Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will visit Turkmenistan to participate in an international forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Confidence, scheduled to be held on December 12. This was reported by Pakistani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Faryal Leghari in an article published in the newspaper "Neutralny Turkmenistan".
"The visit of Honorable Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to participate in the international forum this year is a testament to the respect that Pakistan places on the Government of Turkmenistan," the diplomat noted.
The ambassador emphasized that the main priority areas of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan are common economic and energy interests. Joint projects such as the TOPH gas pipeline and the TOP power line have become an important factor in the convergence of the energy sectors of the two countries.
F. Leghari emphasizes in his article that Pakistan highly values Turkmenistan's strategic energy resources and its leading role in developing regional energy policy.
As part of its "Central Asia Perspective" policy, Pakistan has proposed creating new trade and transport routes connecting Turkmenistan with Pakistan's domestic markets through the ports of Karachi and Gwadar.
