Ambassador of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea

As part of his working visit to the People's Republic of China, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow met with Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

The event was attended by South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, the rector of the National Diplomatic Academy, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Seoul. The purpose of the event was to inform foreign diplomatic representatives about the foreign policy directions and plans of the new government of the Republic of Korea.

In his speech, Minister Cho Hyun emphasized that President Lee Jae Myung has been pursuing an active and pragmatic foreign policy since taking office. The Foreign Minister noted that the President has already held bilateral talks with more than 18 world leaders.

The Minister informed the participants that this year the Republic of Korea holds the presidency of three UN bodies: the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Human Rights Committee.

Cho Hyun also outlined key priorities of Korea's foreign policy, including promoting stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula, advancing international initiatives on the Sustainable Development Goals and climate change, and expanding cultural diplomacy.

The minister paid special attention to preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled for late October 2025 in Gyeongju, and asked diplomatic missions for support to ensure the success of the event.

During the event, Ambassador B. Durdyev held a brief conversation with Minister Cho Hyun. The parties exchanged views on the results of the telephone conversation between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, which took place on August 29, 2025.

The Turkmen ambassador expressed gratitude for the assistance provided in organizing a telephone conversation between the heads of the two states and confirmed his readiness to closely cooperate with the Korean side to further strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
