On July 2, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Islamabad, A. Mowlamov, and the Director General of the Department for Cooperation with the United Nations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Umer Siddique. The meeting discussed areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan within the framework of the UN.
According to the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan in Islamabad, Ambassador A. Movlamov spoke about the third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone of Turkmenistan in August this year. It was noted that this conference is important not only for landlocked countries, but also for many other countries of the world.
U. Siddiq highly appreciated the decision of the Turkmen government to provide its territory for holding such an important international event. He also noted that this is a clear demonstration of the international community's trust and respect for Turkmenistan's constructive and neutral foreign policy. It was especially noted that the issue of ensuring access to the open sea is currently important from the point of view of sustainable logistics, trade and integration.
Ambassador A. Movlamov also congratulated Pakistan on the assumption of the presidency of the UN Security Council and wished it success in its efforts to strengthen the role of the UN in implementing the principles of the International Year of Peace and Confidence.
U. Siddique, in turn, said that Pakistan intends to actively use this responsible position to promote the principles of a just, peaceful, and equitable multilateral world order.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their desire to continue bilateral dialogue, including on various UN platforms, based on mutual respect, trust, and cooperation.
