Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). During the talks, the parties discussed expanding financial and investment cooperation and implementing joint projects, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Meredov emphasized that Ashgabat places particular importance on strengthening international partnerships, including cooperation with leading financial institutions, as part of the country's economic development strategy. Turkmenistan's long-standing cooperation with the EBRD was described as effective. Reno-Basso, in turn, confirmed the bank's interest in further expanding bilateral cooperation.
The parties also discussed the development of the East-West international transport corridor. The Turkmen side confirmed its willingness to consider specific proposals from the EBRD for participation in projects in this area. Expanding cooperation in the energy sector, in particular the bank's possible participation in sustainable energy projects, was also identified as a priority.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting took place during Meredov's working visit to London, where the first meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the United Kingdom in the "Central Asia Plus" format is taking place on February 26.
