A meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, Shadurdy Meredov, was recently held with the participation of representatives of the transport and logistics sector of Uzbekistan, the kun.uz website reported.
The talks discussed issues such as electronic issuance of visas for drivers and facilitating payment procedures, improving the operation of the Farap-Alat border crossing, and reducing queues and waiting time.
Special attention was also paid to the creation of a special corridor for perishable goods, the construction of a second bridge on neutral territory, the acceleration of road and rail transport aimed at transporting goods through the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port, the review of weight and measurement restrictions, and the establishment of direct air services between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The Turkmen side expressed its readiness to consider the proposals and submit them to the relevant government agencies.
