The second regional training for young diplomats and civil servants from Central Asian countries opened at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The event was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan with the support of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, as well as the Italian and British embassies in the country.
The opening ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations accredited in the country, young diplomats and civil servants from states in the region.
Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova emphasized that the training represents an important educational platform designed to deepen participants' knowledge of the UN institutional structure and global decision-making mechanisms. She noted that Turkmenistan actively participates in multilateral UN initiatives in the areas of sustainable development, humanitarian cooperation, and transport connectivity.
Strengthening regional cooperation between the Central Asian states was identified as one of the key objectives of the training. The next meeting of the Turkmenistan-initiated Central Asian Youth Dialogue will also take place on the sidelines of the event.
